Blackpool and Fylde Model Boat Club There is a special page for the B&F Club, click the link, details are slowly being filled in The sailing is usually towards the Blackpool end of the Lake. As you drive along the promenade from the White Church at Fairhaven, towards the west end of the lake you will see a small black and white tennis pavilion by the lakeside. The sailing area is in front of this pavilion You can park on the promenade, and there is a path to the lake from here, opposite Cypress Avenue. If needed there is a rather expensive car park at the West end of the lake, but the parking on the promenade is free, although check that this is still correct, as the Traffic Wardens work on a Sunday, bless them! Permanent buoys are now in place. There is a cafe within 150yds of the sailing area (metres to you young folk) where there are also toilets. follow the link to their site.
The lake is situated on the sea front and is signposted (brown signs)
By your own route get onto the A585 towards Fleetwood Remain on A585 till you reach The Nautical College on your left at a large roundabout with a figure of Pan on a plinth on the top centre. Turn left, first exit, onto Fleetwood Road (brown sign) Follow to 1st RB 3rd exit straight on, Beach Rd. (general store on your right) Follow to sea front - next RB turn Right. The Club is on the left. Park in the car park. Water access - easy Tea/coffee are available but no food Basic toilets are available in the club and public facilities some distance away at the end of the lake. WLYC (West Lancashire Yacht Club) Marine Lake, Marine Drive, Southport, PR8 1RY Situated on the sea front immediately north of Southport Pier (rebuilt recently at a cost of £7,000,000) Entrance to the Club area is by the green channel buoy, but you have to go a little further North to get onto the slip road. The Channel bouy is located at the Exit point Park in the car park. An absolutely super water in the grounds of the local leisure centre.
The lake does not have a weed problem, and has a carpark directly alongside.
The water has a hard edge, with a grass area for boat preparation
The skippers at Aye are keen and the National TT held in March 2011 was very well organised.
The hold Club races on Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings till late lunchtime.
